After the big trade was made to acquire CC Sabathia we put up a poll asking if you liked the trade or not. 35 votes were turned in, and 27 people said they liked the trade, while 8 people were not in favor.
After today it'd be hard not to like what you see from Sabathia so far. After two games he's 2-0, and today he turned in an amazing performance with a complete game. He allowed only two runs, and struck out nine.
Oh yeah, and he hit a home run. Ben wrote when the trade went down that Sabathia would also help out the Brewers' offense. Good call on that one. Today was a great win for the Brewers heading into the all-star break. It sure is nice to have another stopper in the rotation.

Yes it is nice to have CC in the rotation and at the plate; however, the price was just to high and the outcome is still uncertain. Since it looks like Prince has no intention to stay in Milwaukee because he wants more money, we traded away our Fielder replacement, and a pretty good one at that. The deal looks good now, but what happens if we don't make the playoffs? Think about it like this, if we finish 3rd in the NL central we will have given up our power hitting replacement for an inevitable void at first base and our future closer, who looks like he is going to be very good (and God knows we need a good closer). In a few years, the fans could be calling for Melvin's head... think about it.

You raise a good point, and that is why I was skeptical of the Brewers making the trade for Sabathia at first.
If the Brewers don't reach the playoffs the trade will be an absolute failure. With that said, Matt LaPorta is still a double-a player, and there is no guarantee he will see success in the majors. Only time will tell in regards to this being a good trade or not.
